The 90th anniversary concert of composer legend Aulis Sallinen is an event with a capital “E”. The evening, filled with requested pieces that have been previously heard in Naantali, culminates in the world premiere of his melodrama Shaka. The story takes us 200 years back to southern Africa, where the feared and respected King Shaka (1787–1828) reflects on his conquests in both war and love. The stormy tale is led by Matti Leino, known from the Moulin Rouge musical at the Helsinki City Theatre. On the recording, we hear the nostalgic voices of Tauno Palo and Iiris-Lilja Lassila.
