Top Irish pianist Barry Douglas and Beethoven’s most famous piano concerto will meet conductor Dalia Stasevska and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra. Jaakko Kuusisto’s Cello Concerto will be interpreted by Arto Noras, to whom the work is dedicated. The premiere of the Cello Concerto at the Naantali Music Festival in 2019 became the composer’s last.

The Lahti Symphony Orchestra, world-renowned for its performances of Sibelius’ symphonies, will also interpret Sibelius’ 7th Symphony.

Dalia Stasevska

 Dalia Stasevska is renowned as a charismatic and versatile conductor whose international career has been in full swing in recent years. She began as Principal Guest of the BBC Symphony Orchestra in summer 2019, becoming Chief Conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra and Artistic Director of its annual Sibelius Festival in autumn 2021.

 The Lahti Symphony Orchestra is a Finnish local and international orchestra that is both mindful of tradition and fond of novelty. Its operations revolve around a broad and varied series of symphony concerts, complemented by high-quality light music events. One important emphasis is on activities aimed at children and young adults in the Lahti region.

Arto Noras

 Arto Noras is a contemporary giant of cello art. After studying under Yrjö Selin at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and Paul Tortelier in Paris, his success at the 1966 Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition marked the start of a notable international career.
