Opera in the manor park

Naantali Music Festival is organising a park concert for the first time in the magnificent, historic setting of the Louhisaari manor in Masku Askainen. Born in Uusikaupunki, Bernhard Henrik Crusell worked in Stockholm and his opera The Little Slave Girl from 1824 is not only a landmark in music, but also an entertaining piece It is the first opera composed by a Finn and based on the story of Ali Baba and the 40 thieves from One Thousand and One Nights. Its main character is a young slave named Marjana who fights for her freedom. Radiating early romance, the opera is an 80-minute journey across Arabian landscapes where the French influences in Crusell’s music shine their brightest.

The duration of the concert is about 1 h 20 min, no interval. The performance is bilingual, the songs are sung in the original Swedish, the rest of the performance is in Finnish. The viewing area in the Louhisaari Manor Park will open about one hour before the concert.

There are a limited number of parking spaces available, so we recommend that you book a ticket that includes bus transportation either from Turku or from Naantali. Departure and return in Turku from the front of the National Bookstore at Linnankatu 16 and in Naantali from the Aurinkotie stop in front of the Terveyskeskus. The journey from Turku to Louhisaari takes about 45 minutes and from Naantali about 30 minutes.

Weather reservation: if the weather is extremely poor, the concert will be held indoors in Naantali Church. Please provide your contact information when you buy a ticket so that we can inform you of any changes.

Tickets 54 €, students and concertgoers under 18 years of age 35 €. Package tickets include transport from Turku or Naantali 66 € / 47€. The concert ticket includes admission to the Louhisaari Museum either before or after the concert.
