Devil’s violin
11.6.2024 @ 19:00 - 21:00
When the world is at war, the devil plays along with his violin. Music has never been silenced even by utter destruction: Sergei Prokofiev created his barbaric piano sonata in the midst of war, Richard Strauss composed Metamorphosen to commemorate the destruction of Europe, and Igor Stravinsky presented the jazzy Tale of the Soldier shortly after the First World War. Lilja Haatainen, who is only 13 years old and the winner of a violin competition, mastered baroque composer Giuseppe Tartini’s violin sonata. The breathtaking melodies are allegedly composed by the devil himself – and they are devilishly virtuosic.
