Askainen Church and the choral works of contemporary composers of Marshal Mannerheim will take us on a journey into the modern history of Finland. A finely nuanced narrative to this historical excursion from the Arensky String Quartet will give everyone an opportunity to find their own story.

The event's artists

Private: Petteri Iivonen

 Petteri Iivonen is one of the finest Finnish violin artists of our times, with accolades for his performance focusing on such aspects as flawless technique together with sensitivity and considered phrasing. Since 2019 he has served as first concertmaster of the legendary Orchestre de l’Opéra national de Paris.

Private: Young Song

 One of Korea’s most sought-after cellists, Young Song combines perfect technique with warm sensitivity. He has performed as a soloist to critical acclaim with several orchestras, and has toured the world extensively as a chamber musician.

Private: Samuli Peltonen

 Samuli Peltonen is one of Finland’s leading young cellists. He has served as a soloist with several orchestras in Finland and abroad, and has also enjoyed competition success, for example by winning the first International Krzysztof Penderecki Cello Competition in 2008.

Private: Ruut Kiiski

 Conductor Ruut Kiiski has worked with leading orchestras, including the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestre national des Pays de la Loire. She is the new Artistic Director of the Tampere Philharmonic Choir.
