A romance of three

Clara and Robert Schumann, the most well-known composer couple of the Romantic period, turned their love for each other into music. They also took the young Johannes Brahms under their wing and, over the years, he became Clara’s confidant, eternal apprentice and perhaps even secret lover. The opening concert of the Naantali Music Festival celebrates the profound friendship between the three composers and tunes that are born out of passion, love and a lifelong companionship.
