BACH: MESSAGES FROM THE OTHER SIDE
8.6.2025 @ 14:00 - 16:00
When Johann Sebastian Bach returned home from a concert trip in 1720, he was met with a shock: his wife had passed away and was already buried. In his grief, Bach completed the Violin Partita in D minor, which ends with a monumental chaconne. In 1994, researcher Helga Thoene made a groundbreaking discovery: hidden within the seemingly secular partita were verses of choral pieces telling of death and loss. What did Bach want to convey? Is there a detailed plan behind it all, the voice of the subconscious, or divine guidance? The mystery will be explored by the vocal ensemble curated by Tuuli Lindeberg, along with the highly praised violinist Liza Ferschtman, known for her Bach interpretations.
