In the Footsteps of Don Juan: Sinfonia Lahti, Hannu Lintu, Arto Noras
4.6.2025 @ 19:00 - 21:00
In the highly anticipated Naantali debut of conductor Hannu Lintu, two Dons come together – the rogue seducer and the knight of a tragic figure. While Jean Sibelius modestly hints at the legend of Don Juan in his Second Symphony, Richard Strauss portrays the heartbreaker’s love adventures with ruthless precision. Aulis Sallinen’s Don Juanquixote, one of his most popular works, had its world premiere in Naantali in 1986, featuring the nocturnal dances of Don Juanquixote. The ill-fated Dons’ conquests combine into a twisted fantasy where tragedy and comedy transform into an intricate fairy tale, brought to life by the solo cello.
